Welcome to the department of Mechanical engineering at Vidya Pratishthan's Kamalnayan Bajaj Institute of Engineering and Technology, Baramati. The department was established in year 2002 by offering under graduate course B. E. Mechanical Engineering and later in 2012 department started PG courses; M. E. in Design Engineering and Energy Engineering.The department is located in a sprawling environment with a state of art facilities and qualified faculty. The department works with the objective of addressing critical challenges faced by the industry, society and the academia. Perhaps even more important is our unceasing commitment to our students, helping them to learn, grow, develop and achieve their goals to excel in professional career.

The department strives to provide a conductive environment for the students to develop analytical skills and apply them to real world problems.

Mechanical Engineering Department was established in the year 2002. The intake for under graduate course is 60. Mechanical Engineering Department is committed to provide quality education in the field of Mechanics. The strength of the Department is qualified and devoted faculty, motivated students and well equipped labs. Our faculty and students work together to study, experiment and to solve problems in the various fields such as Automobile sector, Energy conservation, Agricultural implements, Robotics, Computer aided design and manufacturing, industrial automation etc. Department has highly qualified staff and state of the art machinery.

Asmita Dhawan BE(Mechanical) has secured 1st rank in SPPU ,Pune examination (2016-17).


Team Jubatus from mechanical department with Prof. S.C. Mahadik has participated in VIRTUAL BAJA 2016 EVENT under SAEINDIA. The event was held in Bangalore on dated 24th and 25th June 2016. As SAEINDIA BAJA is a national level event, mechanical team competed 413 teams from all over India and secured rank of 10th in new team category and 41st in combine new + old team category.


ISTE College Level Project competition held in the campus on dated 5th June 2016. In the competition 6 projects from each department was selected. For each department one winner was finalized. Sugarcane Plantation Machine was the winner from the Mechanical Dept. under the guidance of Prof. A.C. Chaudhari.


The mechanical department has organized one day workshop on LATEX on dated 10th March 2016 for T.E. Mechanical and B.E. Mechanical students. Students are benefited to hands on training for the software and practical conducted by Mr. Mahesh Gaikwad (M.E. Design).


S.E. Mechanical students had organized a competition of model making presentation on 11th February 2016 at department level. In this event students are asked to prepare the small scale models of the mechanisms which are in syllabus of the subject Theory of Machines.


Sonwane Alisha A. from TE Mechanical has presented poster on Zonal Level Research Project Competition in AVISHKAR 2015 under BCUD Savitribai Phule Pune University on dated 23rd September 2015 held at MESCOE Pune.


Mr. Vikrant Dupade from M.E. (Mechanical - Energy Engineering) has got selected for PHD in IITB in Mechanical Department.

Also they have participated in one day INAE sponsored workshop on "Digital Photoelasticity by DigiTFP" on 18th September. It was organized by Continuing Education Program (CEP), IIT Madras.


Mr. Keshav Jadhav

Mr. Keshav M. Jadhav has completed one month industrial training in Industrial Refrigeration division of Accurate Industrial Controls Pvt. Ltd., Pune during 5th May 2016 to 4th June 2016. During this training program he studied different processes in manufacturing of refrigerator like PU foaming, brazing, air-tight sealing etc. He also studied different testing methods of manufactured refrigerator.

Mr. S. C. Mahadik attended the faculty summer industrial training program during 2nd May - 15th May 2016 at Hi-Tech Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. During this training program, he acquired knowledge about actual field work done in area of joining technology used in high pressure vessel, NDT testing methods in high pressure vessel, fabrication methodology for high pressure vessels.


Mr. S.C. Mahadik has awarded as a Topper for NPTEL exam of Vibration of Structures Subject also he has awarded as a Elite Candidate for NPTEL Exam of Engineering Graphics subject.

He has Participated in Four Week AICTE approved FDP by IIT Bombay on - Use of ICT in Education for Online and Blended Learning (2nd May -10 July).

Mr. A.C. Chaudhari and Mr. S. E. Zarekar have received 15 days industrial training at Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. during the period of 1st December to 15th December 2015. During the period they worked on the project "Thermal Analysis of Paint shop 1" assigned to them by the Mentor. The mentor for them for the project was Mr. L.S. Karnachi, Maintenance Head, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Swapnil Taware and Mr. Hanumant Borate received one month industrial training at Bharat Forge Ltd. Baramati. During the training the interactive sessions were arranged. Various experienced staff and authorities like Assistant Vice-President and Sr. Manager given exposure to the present trends and technologies used at Bharat Forge LTD (BFL). They visited all departments and shops of BFL and spent more time at the shop floor with the workers to enhance their knowledge.

A Short Term Course (STC) on "Integrated Automation Technologies" was held at IIT Delhi during 1st to 6th June 2015. Prof. D. D. Rupanwar from Dept. Of Mechanical Engineering was adjudged as the "Best Learner" award based on his performance in the quizzes conducted during the program.

Prof. Keshav M. Jadhav has attended "Summer Faculty Research Fellow Programme (SFRF)-2015", under Continuing Education Program (CEP) at IIT, Delhi. The duration of this course was from 15/05/2015 to 02/07/2015. The main objective of this progamme is to help in inducting and inculcating research culture among the faculty of engineering and science institutes outside IIT system. This way a faculty fellow who is planning to start on their PhD (or post graduate research programme) can spend the summer months (May-July) under the guidance of an active research faculty mentor of IIT Delhi.

Around 45 students of TE (Mechanical) alongwith four staff members visited "Gas Turbine Power Plant, Uran on 03rd March 2016. Prof. D. D. Rupanwar, Prof. V. B. Bhagwat, Prof. V. B. Bhagwat & Prof. Sai Gopal accompanied students for guiding. The next day students visited Volkswagen Pune Plant to study the advanced manufacturing process and automation in assembly lines.

Its common namederives from the names of Nhava and Sheva villages which were situated there. JNPT has a quay length of 680 metres (2,230 feet) with 3berths. The Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT) is leased to a consortium led by P & O,now a part of DP World. Commissioned in July 2000, it has a 600 metres (2,000 ft) quay length with twoberths. It can handle up to 15.6 million tons of cargo. NSICT was India's first privately managed containerterminal.

NANDAN is a cooperative dairy projectestablished on 1st December 1977 and since then it has achieved many landmarks in milkprocurement, extension, animal health and milk processing, product making and marketing. Technically, sugarcane is a highly efficient converter of solar energy and infact, has the highest energy to volume ratio among all energy crops. Bagasse isgenerated after crushing of sugarcane is used as main fuel in all the three boilers.The average number of days for which the power plant operates with bagasse asfuel ranges from 160-180 days.
